“Theatre is sculpted from voices and bodies and genius
– but sometimes items like lumber come in handy too”.
Celia Wren, American Theatre
Dear Friends,

Thank you for considering making an online donation to support HCT. The quote at the top of this page is from an article in American Theatre magazine about the current state of affairs in theatres throughout the country. I’m happy to say that HCT is fairing better than many and though the challenges are numerous, so are the rewards.

It was thrilling at the start of the 08-09 season to see our actors, musicians and designers not only pull off The Producers but do it better than the professional touring company I saw in 2003. There’s something about the heart and soul a volunteer company puts into a show like that which just brings it all to life in a whole new way.

Coming on the heels of that thrill, it was wonderful to see a talented ensemble of young people give life to the boys of “D Tent” and the town of Greenlake in Holes. In addition to the public performances, we did six school shows of that production and I loved listening to the reactions of the children when the shovels struck “dirt” (“hey they’re really digging,” was often heard) or especially when the moon came out as Stanley and Zero returned to camp to dig one more hole.

It is because of your support we’re able to do the things we do and make them affordable to the entire community. Did you know that a community theatre ticket in some parts of the country has risen to over $25 as these companies try to keep up with rising costs? HCT is committed to providing professional quality entertainment at a community-friendly price but it is only through your generosity that this is possible.

We are deeply grateful for your support and WE’LL SEE YOU AT THE THEATRE.

Sincerely,
John Rambo
Managing Director
