Stephen Kerr
Ebenezer Scrooge
  Stephen’s list of stage credits is long and spans numerous theatres across the state. For HCT, he has played Pap Finn in Big River, Dubhdara O’Malley in The Pirate Queen, Thernardier in Les Miserables, Lord Scrumptious/Toymaker in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Barsad in A Tale of Two Cities, The Man in the Yellow Suit in Tuck Everlasting, and Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol for the past five years. Other favorite roles include Miguel de Cervantes/Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha, King Arthur in Camelot, Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls, Pseudolous in Forum, Jud Fry in Oklahoma!, Victoria Vidal/Big Daddy in Sweet Charity, and Leo Schneider in Chapter Two. Stephen also recently directed Disney’s The Little Mermaid for the Herriman Arts Council.

Lucas Charon
Fred / Charles Dickens
  Lucas is excited to return Hale Centre Theatre, having played Eben for six years as well as Dickens in previous productions of A Christmas Carol on our stage. Other favorite roles include Defarge in A Tale of Two Cities (Centerpoint Legacy Theatre), Willard in Footloose (West Valley City) and Soloist in White Star (BYU Education Week). Lucas is a Special Education Teacher during the day, having earned his BS in History at the U of U, his Severe Special Education License at Utah State, and his M.A. in Ed. Administration at Argosy U. “Thank you to my beautiful wife for supporting me, and my Savior who makes redemption possible.”

Anthony Lovato
Bob Cratchit
  Anthony is no stranger to A Christmas Carol, having played Marley for the past eight years; he’s finally graduated to become a family man.  Other favorite roles include the Child Catcher in Chitty, Chitty, Bang Bang, and Porthos in The Three Musketeers (HCT), Black Stache in Peter and The Starcatcher (The Empress) and Richard Hannay in The 39 Steps (Centerpoint Legacy Theatre). He plays the Dad in the upcoming film Twice the Dream this spring. Anthony majored in Theatre at USU, and between moonlighting as an Uber driver, works as performer on stage and screen and as a voiceover actor and audiobook narrator for Audible.  “To my sons, Thank you for preparing me in how to be a good dad for this role. I love you!”

Kate Rufener
Mrs. Cratchit
  We are excited to have Kate back as Mrs. Cratchit. This will be her 11th time playing this character at HCT. Other roles and venues include Muzzy Van Hossmere in Thoroughly Modern Millie (Sandy Amphitheatre), The Chaperone in The Drowsy Chaperone (Centerpoint Legacy Theatre), and Miss Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest (HCT). Kate has directed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at UCCC, Company for Silver Summit and A Princess Bride for Newbold Theatre Company. She holds a BS degree in Communication from the U of U. “Thanks to my very own Ann Perkins, the inimitable Ninja Turtle Mikey, and to the Amazing Goodman, without whom Darles Chickens and I would not be on such good terms.”

Josh Richardson
Jacob Marley / Undertaker
  Josh recently amazed HCT audiences with his performance of Claude Frollo in our production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and also portrayed Elton in The Scarlet Pimpernel. Over the past 15 years, Josh has performed nearly 30 roles on the HCT stage, including multiple roles in A Christmas Carol, Thernardier in Les Miserables, Long John Silver in Treasure Island, Bill Sykes in Oliver!, Trevor Graydon in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Bob Ewell in To Kill A Mockingbird, Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods, Bill Slank in Peter and the Starcatcher, Sgt. King in No Time for Sergeants, Robert Summers in The Heart of Robin Hood, and  Kerchak in Tarzan. Josh has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting and Directing from SUU and is currently the Account Manager for Holistic Web Presence. “This is my 11th time performing in A Christmas Carol, and I couldn’t be happier! Thanks, John, Anne, and Marilyn!”

Jackie Spendlove
Ghost of Christmas Past / Turkey Boy
  Jackie is returning to HCT, having performed as Little Fan/Harriet Cratchit/Want in A Christmas Carol in our 2016 production and Ghost of Christmas Past in our 2017 production. She recently played Cinderella in Cinderella, Jr. at the Midvale Main Street Theater.  This 7th grader currently spends many nights singing in the One Voice Children’s Choir. “Thanks to my family, as well as my cast and all the production team for making this story come to life! This is going to be special!”

Daniel Anderson

  Daniel was most recently seen on the HCT stage as Pierre in The Heart of Robin Hood, as Judge Taylor in To Kill a Mockingbird, and as Owen Musser in The Foreigner.  Other roles and venues:  Santa Cruz Shakespeare Festival: Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Gravedigger in Hamlet; Hale Center Theater Orem: Norman in Cash On Delivery!, Fester in The Addams Family; Grassroots Shakespeare Company: Prospero in The Tempest, Falstaff in The Merry Wives of Windsor.  Daniel owns a small business selling Shakespeare-inspired bath bombs.  Look up Bard Bombs Apothecary on Facebook!

  Eb is making his debut at HCT, but comes to us with extensive experience. Previous roles include Moroni, Buddah, and Putin in Saturday’s Voyeur (2013-2017) for Salt Lake Acting Company, Igor in Young Frankenstein, Freddy Benson in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors for Ziegfeld Theater/Egyptian Theater, as well as Stuart Little in Stuart Little and Elbow in Measure for Measure for Peterborough Players. He holds a BFA degree from The University of Utah and an MFA from Ohio University. “Thank you to all my family and friends for their support.”

  Eric made his debut on our stage in last year’s A Christmas Carol. Other previous productions include Reverend Shaw Moore in Footloose (HCTO), Snout in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Provo Theatre Company), and Captain Hook in Peter Pan (Scera). Eric graduated from BYU with a Master’s of Music, and is the Station Manager for Classical 89 and on-air host for Sunday Choral Classics each week from 8-11am and 4-7pm.

Casey Matern

  This is Casey’s 8th year performing in A Christmas Carol. Some other favorite roles include Witch in Into the Woods, Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, Roz in 9 to 5: The Musical, and Evleeen in The Pirate Queen. She spends her days as stay at home mom to four kids and as a photographer at Red Mug Photography. “So much love to my husband and kids for their constant love and support. And to my dear, sweet friend Gayle. This one is for you, love. Merry Christmas!”

Spencer Hohl

  Spencer was most recently seen on the HCT stage in last year A Christmas Carol as Eben, as well as Levi in Joseph…Dreamcoat and as Tom Sawyer in Big River.  Other favorite roles:  D’artagan in The Three Musketeers and Prince Hamlet in Hamlet, both at UCT.  Spencer is certified in several weapons with the Society of American Fight Directors and has studied Guitar Performance at UVU.  Spencer is an actor, studio guitarist, and fight choreographer by trade. He enjoys writing music for his band and spending time with his wife.  “Perfect, do it again.”

Camrey Bagley Fox

  Camrey most recently played Mayella Ewell in our 2017 production of To Kill a Mockingbird. She lists as some of her favorite roles:  Caitlin in Mockingbird for Pygmalion Productions, Ariel in The Tempest at WSU, and Elizabeth Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol at HCT.  Camrey has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater from WSU.  She works full time as a producer/actor for her family’s YouTube channel, Working With Lemons.

  Joshua is glad to be back at HCT—having made his debut as Buttons in NEWSIES. Past roles include Johnny Brown in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Link Larkin in Hairspray, Ren in Footloose, and Gaston in Beauty and the Beast at The Scera Theatre. This High School Senior teaches acting at The Scera to elementary school-aged kids. “Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!”

  John is no stranger to the Hale stage; he has been in numerous productions with us over the years including our recent production of The Scarlet Pimpernel and last year’s A Christmas Carol. He lists one of his favorite roles as the title character in Joseph… Dreamcoat (Centerpoint Legacy Theatre). He is the Head of Business Development at The Piano Place where he also teaches private piano, voice, and guitar lessons.  “I’ll love you forever; I’ll like you for always; as long as I’m living, my mommy you’ll be.”

  Some of Dawn’s favorite roles at HCT are The Witch in Big Fish, Tina in Sister Act, and Holly in The Wedding Singer.  Other HCT favorites are A Christmas Carol and Chitty Chitty, Band Bang.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from USU and is currently a mom. “Love to my sweet little family.”

Jacob Despain
Tiny Tim / Young Boy Scrooge
  After Jacob’s first show in front of a live audience the Christmas before last, he said, “That was the best thing I’ve ever done in my life!” He is thrilled to be back as Tiny Tim for the third time at the theatre he calls his home away from home. His favorite ways to spend his time include reading, playing sports and the violin, and traveling with his family. Jacob is a big brother to three siblings who adore him. “God bless us, everyone!”

Olivia Dietlein
Little Fan / Harriet Cratchit / Want
  Audiences may recognize Olivia from her starring role as Lee Lee in last year’s production of A Bundle of Trouble. She also appeared in last season’s A Christmas Carol.  This kindergartener works hard doing ballet, reading, playing games with her family and helping Mom and Dad out however she can.

Haven McGee

  This is Haven’s third time performing in A Christmas Carol at HCT. Playing Sharpay in High School Musical at Timberline Middle School was one of her favorite experiences. She also played Jane Banks alongside her brother Cairo (as Michael) in Mary Poppins at Scera Shell. She was Molly to sister Harper’s Annie at Alpine Community Theatre, so it has always been something she enjoys doing with her siblings. This 10th grader sings a lot—with the One Voice Children’s Choir, in her church choir, school jazz band, in a garage band with friends, and two Chapman Soundhouse bands. She also dances, is on her school’s Shakespeare team, and studies guitar. She also loves the beach, any beach. “What this world really needs is a little song, a little dance, and a little seltzer down the pants.”

  Joel is excited to be returning to Hale Centre Theatre in A Christmas Carol. He is currently in the 5th grade, and is part-owner of a business he created with his brother pushing garbage cans in and out on garbage day for a small fee. “Do what they say you can’t do.”

  This young actor has a lot of acting experience.  On stage: Tiny Tim and Frederick in A Christmas Carol (HCT), Dill Harris in To Kill a Mockingbird (HCT), Young Tarzan in Tarzan and Gavroche in Les Miserables (HCTO), Michael in Peter Pan and Chip in Beauty and the Beast (Herriman Arts), Winthrop in The Music Man (Draper Arts); Film:  Come Unto Me, Saturday’s Warrior, The Christmas Project, Singing With Angels, The Miracle Maker, My Broken Horse Christmas and Switched for Christmas for Hallmark.  “I love HCT and am so grateful to be back to perform again.”

Savannah Cobb
Martha Cratchit / Mary
  Savannah is another returning cast member, having performed in A Christmas Carol for the past three years. She has also been seen as Fiona in Shrek (ELA), Sara Crewe in The Little Princess (SVYT), in Sweeney Todd at Riverton High School, and in the Mormon message Working with Love.  She can also be seen as Alana in Working With Lemons Dear Evan Hansen You Tube videos.  She works as a Math Tutor at Mathnasium Learning Center. “Thank you to the wonderful team who has helped make this show a reality, and to my mom for being my chauffer, my therapist, and my best friend!”

Mindi Hansen

  In addition to last year’s production of in A Christmas Carol, Mindi most recently played a princess in Herriman Arts Council’s production of The Little Mermaid and was in Les Miserables for The Ziegfeld Theatre. She is an attorney and mediator with Hanks & Peterson and focuses her practice on estate planning and family law. “I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of this beautiful story. May we all honor Christmas in our hearts all year long.”

Morgan Western

  Morgan recently debuted as Marie Grosholtz in our production of The Scarlet Pimernel. Favorite past roles include Polly Baker in Crazy for You, and Martha Jefferson in 1776 at Centerpoint Legacy Theatre, Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family for Sandy Arts, and Pinkalicious in Pinkalicious the Musical for Utah Children’s Theatre. She also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. She attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Performance.  She’s a Media Production Coordinator on a Media Team at LifeVantage and owns a Princess Party company. “A big thank you to my husband Zackery and best friend Larissa, and the most Christmas filled love to my Family. God Bless us, Everyone!”

Katie Frandsen

  Having performed previously at Hale, Centerpoint, The Grand, and other local venues, Katie counts Fiona in Shrek, Lina Lamont in Singing the Rain, and the title role in Mary Poppins as some of her favorite roles. She has a degree in violin performance and works as a violin teacher and full-time mom to three kids. “Love to Dallin and the attachments!”

Chelsea Marsden

  Chelsea recently performed as the title character in Centerpoint’s production of Mary Poppins. Some of her favorite roles include Belle in Beauty and The Beast, Sally Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, The Chaperone in The Drowsy Chaperone, and Aphra in Children of Eden. She has also performed in Oklahoma! and Hello, Dolly! Chelsea is attending UVU, majoring in Elementary Education, and works as a reading tutor at the South Franklin Community Center in Provo.  “Many thanks to my support system: My family, my friends and my Father in Heaven.”

Clark Bullen

  Clark recently made his HCT debut with The Scarlet Pimpernel. Previous roles include: Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid and Gaspard in A Tale of Two Cities at Centerpoint Legacy Theatre, Richard Henry Lee in 1776 at the Murray Amphitheatre, and Charlie in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown with the Murray Arts Council, but the show that started it all was Seussical, The Musical at the Egyptian Theatre where he played the Grinch and fell in love with the Sour Kangaroo. Eleven years and four kids later, they’re still singing. He earned a BA in Human Development from the University of Utah and is currently self-employed; his wife and he own a Marketing Consultancy that focuses on social media advertising.  “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” Henry Ford

  Tanner has been in HCT’s A Christmas Carol, Tuck Everlasting, as well as Forever Plaid.  He also performed in West Jordan High’s West Side Story and The Wedding Singer.  Tanner is attending the University of Utah where he is studying Choral Education and works as a Piano Teacher.  “So long, and thanks for all the fish.”
